We believe every piece of art deserves to be protected and saved. As wildfire season rapidly seems to be year round these days and disaster is always possible, we believe in being prepared. While you prepare to keep your loved ones safe, ACT can prepare to keep your artwork safe too.
Our bespoke three-stage plan is a fully comprehensive disaster preparation, rescue and recovery service that keeps your art safe before, during and after a disaster and we can help you at all three, or any one of the three stages, depending on your needs.
We do this in partnership with trusted local art services companies and renowned art appraisers. So, everything is taken care of, from an evacuation plan which means we can quickly and safely evacuate your collection should disaster strike, to repairing damaged art after a wildfire or disaster. We also work closely with your insurance adjusters to provide all the information they need should a claim be made.
• Baseline conservation condition assessments and report
• Collection’s appraisal baseline prior to damage (as needed)
• Comprehensive digital archive of collection
• Pack-out route and floor plan to be used in the event of an emergency
• Expert evacuation of artwork either prior, during or post disaster
• Supervised pack with expert standards of safety and care
• Professional Fine Art storage and transfer services
• Artwork conservation treatment preformed and/ or post-event condition assessment
• Valuation to determine stabilization or diminution of value, post event
• Insurance company liaison
• Reinstallation after the event
Before: Preparation is key
Waiting until after the event to save your art collection can be too late. That’s why we create detailed evacuation procedures so that in the event of a wildfire, we can rescue and recover your art collection as flawlessly and safely as possible.
Prior to a wildfire, ACT along with trusted art handlers and ASA approved appraisers, will also assess and value your art collection and create a digital archive. This can act as an inventory of value and condition prior to damage, should you need it for insurance purposes. We retain this and provide you with a secure copy, for your peace of mind.
During: Carry out the action plan
Whether rescuing your collection before disaster has struck or recovering it after an event has already taken place, we are equipped and prepared to pack and transport your artworks - in almost all possible conditions.
Given the ever changing threat of devastating wildfires in California, we maintain up-to-date disaster site training and PPE for handling works of art at risk or in need of recovery.
Partnering with Art Services and Handling teams, ACT will supervise the pack with the highest standards of safety and care. We will then organize transport and storage of your artwork to secure locations or take your pieces to our conservation studio for treatment, if needed.
After: Once the emergency is over
Works of art may need deodorizing, fumigation, smoke and dirt removal, and stabilizations after a fire, alongside many other treatments. No matter what the damage, we will work tirelessly to repair your pieces to as close to their original condition as possible.
For every piece of art in our care, we produce full reports which include photo documentation, details on laboratory testing and a reappraisal at its current condition as needed. As part of the service we also work closely with your insurance company, as needed, to provide them everything required for your claim to be taken care of seamlessly.
Finally, once the treatment has been given, we will supervise the re-installation of your artwork.
We care about the future of your collection and are always here to answer questions and give you guidance and support.
